NeuroBridge Industry Mixer
Inaugural industry mixer hosted by the Neuroscience and Mental Health Institute at UAlberta.

The Event
The event brought together neuroscience trainees, researchers, and industry partners to explore how academic training can translate into real-world impact. With over 70 trainees and 15 industry partners in attendance, the mixer created an important space for students to learn about career pathways, commercialization, and opportunities beyond the traditional academic route.
As part of the event, NeuroPawn joined a perspective panel alongside other biotechnology and health innovation leaders in Alberta. The discussion focused on translating technical and scientific skills into commercial value, building companies from research-driven ideas, and strengthening the connection between academia and industry.
Key Takeaway
One of the strongest themes from the event was the level of talent coming out of Alberta’s biomedical and neuroscience programs. The energy in the room reflected a growing appetite for entrepreneurship, applied research, and industry collaboration within the province.
At NeuroPawn, we believe that bridging academia and industry is essential for building the next generation of neurotechnology. Events like NeuroBridge help students see how their research skills can be applied to real-world problems, while also giving companies the opportunity to connect with emerging talent.
We are excited to see more initiatives like this continue to grow in Alberta and are proud to be part of a community working to advance neuroscience, biomedical innovation, and translational research.
